| I was just looking through my parents collection of books and i saw a book called erewhon.
i looked at it and it sounded almost like Eragon.
My reasons it might be the origin of the name eragon
1 it is a fantasy
2 it is a very famous book (so CP likely read it)
3 the main character is a farmer who becomes a very important person who helps to overthrow an evil government
Are the two names coincidence?

| i think it is more likely it came from Aragorn in Lord of the Rings. That's what it made me think of. | |

| its possible it comes from aragorn but i doubt it
i read the back cover of erewhon and it sounded like something off the cover of an eragon book
i don't know what do believe but i thought it was possible | |

| I in fact know that isn't the orgin. There are several reasons as to why paolini picked this name, he said so himself!! 1. eragon=dragon one letter difference, you get it. 2. eragon= era gone. The era of the dragonriders is over, and he is the beginning of a new one 3. Paolini used to play on this star wars game online, and he dueled this character named eragon, who beat him! And paolini was pretty miffed, since he was one of the top players on the site. He told us how he remembered how it was displayed on his screen:YOU HAVE BEEN KILLED BY ERAGON!!!  Hence the name, eragon. I'm so proud, he plays weird online games too...xD
