Not true! You need more than 1 girl dragon to re-establish a whole population of dragons! And in case you haven't noticed, HE HAS sped up the growth cycle. At the end of eldest, he was only a few months old, too young to breathe fire. And it was a while after she learned to breathe fire Saph was able to reproduce. So, it will be a while before Thorn can either. It will be sped up with magic, so he should be able to by Brisingr. And Galby needs 2 females, and he might have Thorn be with both of them! Normally, this wouldn't happen, but Galby would make him. Also, Galby would also make do all this if he were to keep him, but we know he won't because the Varden would get it.

Also, in the special edition of Eldest, it had a list of characters in the back, and Shruikan was the only dragon whose gender wasn't mentioned. Saph, Thorn, and Glaedr have, but not her. And notice, not in a single page has there ever been someone flat out saying "Shruikan is male". Not at all. I consider this quite the bit of evidence, thank you very much!

To start a new population, you need two people. Dragons probably would marry their sister if their race was in danger. And galby would force them to.

No, because the DNA would be similar, causing defects in the bloodline. This is why he needs 2. If you have 2 males and 2 females, there is enough DNA in the genetic pool of the four that it would be possible.

the fate of shruikan is not something i have thought about to much but i believe that something to this effect will happen ......that galbatorix will be killed and shruikan will be able to live as a free dragon because he is not bound to galbatorix like most dragons and thier riders are

true but if they never go out and ride or train then how close can their bond honestly be...
i mean i could know somebody for two hundred years but never interact with them making our relationship more meaningless then anything

Like i said i don't know yet. But if shurty was a boy saph could have a girl and the girl dragon would have a good rider and they would have so thats 4 good dragons. They would take out galby and free murty cause i think murty is going in to hiding till galby is gone then saph's daghter would mate with or thorn and start to rebuild the dragon population. Or CP would have saph mate with or thorn after galby is dead and they would keep have ing boys and the dragon population would die out . Very though.
